Added to that is the premium design, which eventually makes them the ultimate smartphone.

iPhone Models List with names and pictures (iPhones in order)
This is the very first iPhone. It is sometimes referred to as the “iPhone 2G” due to its lack of support for 3G networks.
When the original Apple iPhone was released in 2007, it was 3.5″ wide, 11.6mm thick, and had 16 GB of storage! That may seem small today, but it was huge at the time. The phone also had 128MB memory, and weighed in at 166 grams.
In spite of being considered ahead of its time, Apple immediately began working on a new design for its phone in order to best its predecessor across all categories. Despite limitations in the technology, this was not an easy task at the time.

2. iPhone 3G
Apple launched the 3G iPhone after the first iPhone had been successful for a year. MobileMe was also launched in the same year that the iOS App Store was introduced. Design-wise, it was very similar to the iPhone, and had all the same buttons and ports one would expect. iPhone 3G had GPS built-in, which permitted it to use Google maps apps.

3. iPhone 3GS
With the iPhone 3GS, Apple boosted storage capacity to 32 GB, doubling its capacity from the first iPhone. It was evident that the introduction of the App Store had a drastic impact. 16 GB of storage just wasn’t going to cut it between photos, music, and apps. Adding video recording to the camera upgraded it to 3 MP. In addition, Apple introduced Voice Control, but we would have to wait another couple of years before Siri launched.

4. iPhone 4
Apple’s iPhone 4 was the first iPhone to have a front-facing camera. Little did they know that selfies would take over the world. The iPhone 4 also had a Retina display.
The iPhone 3GS had 256 MB of memory, so the iPhone 4 had 512 MB of memory. You can see the technology was starting to look a little more familiar, but 32 GB was still the maximum capacity.

5. iPhone 4S
Between the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S, there was a huge improvement: the camera went from 5MP to a whopping 8MP. Apple also introduced 64GB storage options but kept the internal memory at 512MB.
The iPhone 4S sold four million units in its first week. Oh, yes, I forgot–it can record video in 1080p. And say hello to Siri!
